March was an exciting month for us at Jacaranda Records; It marked the return of the iconic Basement Tapes, this time featuring our latest hook-up Waiting Till Marriage, the arrival of two amazing artists in FEEDER and Peter Doherty for in-store shows, and also saw us team up with local legends ‘Rats’ to launch their new EP exclusively at Jacaranda Records Store.
We started off the month with the powerful, dynamic voice of Elles Bailey, our first of six album launch shows this month, echoing around the Jacaranda basement.
The same space was transformed the following week for the return of our highly successful YouTube series The Basement Tapes. This time produced in partnership with media production university SAE Institute, with audio and video students from the Liverpool campus to showcase local up and comers Waiting Till Marriage’s new single ‘Three Times’ in our iconic four-panel format. Also in the basement we booked in some small up-and-comers such as Satin Green and The Garnetts and on St. Patrick’s Day STONE came down after their sold out gig at EBGBS to join in the celebrations for an after party.
Next up we had a whole host of instore shows at Phase One, staring off with an intimate performance from Twin Atlantic, followed by a QnA session for the fans. They were followed by The Mysterines, who played their debut album to a packed full room ahead of a headline show at Invisible Wind Factory, before Seagirls came down for a last minute acoustic performance and signing on very same day we had Pete Doherty and Frederic Lo hit the stage at The Cavern Club.
The next week, FEEDER returned to Phase One – taking in the changes made to the venue since they last came in 2019, with bassist Taka Hirose posing for a picture alongside his poster on the back wall.
We also found time to partner up with RATS, four childhood friends who met on the streets of Liverpool but now have their first release pressed on vinyl, to exclusively house the ‘Jenny/Patsy Decline’ single in our store! Check out their TikTok below.
Record Store Day is fast approaching and we’ve just revealed our full plans to make this years our best yet! The day will feature limited edition vinyl exclusive to independent stores and we’re going that extra mile to celebrate the biggest day of the year – dishing out complementary teas and coffees, a BBQ in Phase One courtyard and a set from OUTSIDER (who has previously featured in our Open Mic Sessions) to make sure everyone makes it through the long queue.
