After a difficult and dreary 2021, it’s been a truly fantastic start to the year. January has already picked up the pace from putting on shows with world class artists, to our first label release of 2022!
January has seen us put on a whole host of shows at the best live music venues in the city, kicking off with Phase One’s first in-store show in our newly refurbished store, Spector returned to the venue to christen our new stage with an intimate, acoustic set celebrating the release of their latest album. The stage also played host to The Wombats who stopped by before their sold out gig with us at Invisible Wind Factory, then a week later the enigmatic Miles Kane came down for two performances to a bustling hometown crowd.
The Jacaranda basement stage has played host to a ton of gigs this month including up-and-coming punk heavy hitters Factory Set and among the many shows in Heebie Jeebies The Sherlocks got sentimental down in EBGBS with acoustic renditions of their chart-topping new album.
We saved the best till last and at the end of the month the 31st held host to two huge acts: dirty rock n’ rollers Don Broco at the Arts Club and local legend Jamie Webster at The Cavern Club. On the night when the midweek charts came out Don Broco were positioned to hit #1, and Jamie Webster no. #2, with 500 limited edition Jacaranda Records vinyl going to hardcore fans. Jamie even landed a brick on The Cavern Wall of Fame, cementing himself with the likes of Oasis and Elton John.
The month didn’t just see us putting on live shows , it started with giving away our exclusive edition of John Lennon’sHappy X-mas (War is Over) to the winner of our prize draw: Iain Baird from Stockton-on-Tees, whose daughter Elinor popped by the store to pick up the record.
Mid month we were delighted when Jamie Webster popped down to hand-sign and number those 500 vinyl, have a chat about his favourite tunes, and meet Scottish deer-hound Obi!
Lastly but by no means least January 31st saw us launch our first compilation album, Tales From Jacaranda Records, available on all streaming platforms, featuring 12 tracks from 6 incendiary artists including SHARDS, Aimee Steven and The Phil Jones Experience.
