Jacaranda Records Set August Ablaze with The Hives, Gabriels, and more

August saw a bunch of acts from around the globe head to musical epicentre of Liverpool: The Jacaranda, from The Hives haling from Sweden, to Gabriels from L.A., to homecoming show with Liverpool’s own Dan Croll and International Beatleweek.

We held two signing sessions in The Jac this month, the first was with Miles Kane. Following on from his two sold out shows at Phase One last in July, Miles was hungry for more and managed to sign over 200 albums for eager fans wanting to meet him, even capping off the evening with afew tunes on an acoustic guitar. The second was The Hives, celebrating the release of their first album in 10 years, seeing queues long past The Jac. Something extra special happened at the start of the session too, local band Sky Valley Mistress turned up in their OWN rented hearse and performed ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ on Slater Street, prompting the band to head out and watch!

In terms of live; Gabriels, a soulful and genre-bending group, we’re a highlight for sure, performing at The Cavern Club at the tail end of the month. Lead singer Jacob Lusk’s powerful vocals, accompanied by the band’s impressive musicianship, left an indelible mark on the Liverpool crowd, choosing to open with an incredible rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’

Dan Croll, The View, Skindred, Hot Milk, The Sherlocks and Willie J Healey were all artists who performed for us this month too, and each event brought a new twist to what to expect at The Jacaranda. Speaking of new twists, we were honoured to be involved in International Beatleweek as an official venue this year alongside The Cavern Club, Philharmonic Hall and more. During the week, a bunch of Beatles cover bands from across the globe headed to the first ever place The Beatles played.
