In the shortest month of the year, we still managed to get a lot done at Jacaranda Records, including the signing of Waiting Till Marriage and the launch of our new Youtube series.
February kicked off with the first official Independent Venue Week since 2022, and we showcased a bunch of local up and coming bands at The Jacaranda and EBGBS, including partnerships with artist development and bookings company ‘Sound Music Group’ as well as the DIY, underground Hip-Hop project ‘The Hip-Hop HQ’
We also joined forces (again) with Sound Music Group, to host the Sound Music Awards launch and networking event at Phase One, which saw a host of music industry folks come down to chew the fat and look forward to the exciting developments brewing in the Liverpool music scene this year. More information on nominating contenders for the awards will be available on their website in the coming months.
Jacaranda Record Store organised and provided the records for four shows this month. James Morrison’s greatest hits, Sea Power’s returning album and Bad Boy Chiller Crew’s debut all got into the top 10 through the charts, and the vastly talented Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard had a short, intimate debut album show instore signalling a great future for the children of 60s Rock n’ Roll.
We were very pleased to have Jamie Webster return to the store for a meet and greet signing ahead of his two sold out shows last month, giving an opportunity for fans to grab a hand signed album, shirt, or a selfie or two with the local legend.
We also unveiled the Open Mic Sessions earlier this month, releasing videos of two performers from the weekly Jacaranda event: one featuring the soulful OUTSIDER with his track FIRE, and the other graced by host Ali Horn ‘End Credits’ – a new track from his recently released debut album. You can watch both by clicking the links below.
We’ve been hard at work on the second series – the revival of the Basement Tapes, and have joined forces with SAE to showcase punk heavy hitters Factory Set and Waiting Till Marriage who have hooked up with Jacaranda Records to release their latest single alongside a very special headline show at Jimmy’s in March! Here’s a teaser of what’s to come very soon…
Last but certainly not least, the list for Record Store Day 2022 ( 23rd April), was officially released just a few weeks ago. With the grand opening of our new store, we’re planning on making this year our best one yet. So watch this space for more information regarding our plans, and if you have anything you’d be particularly interested in – be sure to pop into the store and fill out our RSD Requests sheet.
