April saw the long awaited activation of the Voice-o-Graph Machine, two shows with Frank Turner, and the biggest day of the year of our record shop: Record Store Day 2022!
Firstly, we realised two new video performances on our Youtube channel. One from the Open Mic Sessions; where we were enamoured with the witty and gritty rhymes of Motormouf, leader of the Hip-Hop HQ, and the other a brand new one – the Voice-o-Graph Recordings featuring none other than Frank Turner!
Following the recording in the original 1947 booth, Frank headed to Phase One for an intimate acoustic set in celebration of his latest album, before getting changed into a Jacaranda Records t-shirt for his sold out show at the Arts Club!
There headline of the month was absolutely Record Store Day, in which we saw record queues since 2am the night before and a day full of live entertainment. We opened our doors at 8am, many people brought chairs to sit on while awaiting the store’s opening. The first customer through the door was Hannah, from Wigan, who had been camped outside since the early morning. She said: “I could have gone to somewhere in Manchester, it would have been easier but I chose Jacaranda Records because I like there’s a lot of female staff. It’s the perfect store.”
Jack Rowley, marketing manager at Jacaranda Group, told the ECHO : “We hit our 100th individual customer by 9.30am. The largest individual sale so far was £490.”
Namina Koroma, manager at Jacaranda Records Phase One, added: “We’ve had an amazing day so far, seeing plenty of old faces, new ones and even some tired ones too – since people have been queuing since 2am. The feedback we’ve got about our new look shop is amazing.”
Next month even more content is gonna be out from our socials and YouTube as we ramp up our video production, now more than ever is a good time to keep notified!
