Aimée Steven returns with her haunting track, ‘Today’

[9 Oct 2020]

After writing and recording a slew of new tracks under quarantine, Aimée has emerged with a more mature, polished take on her quest to bring back dreamy indie garage rock. About her new single, Aimée Steven says:

‘‘I wrote ‘Today’ thinking about how completely and utterly fragile our time is in this world and how important it is that we share that time with people we love. It came pretty easy once I had that emotion to draw upon, I thought of a number of people in my life whilst writing and once the verses were nailed down the chorus rushed out of me. ‘Today’ now, the present… because tomorrow and yesterday don’t really exist.’’

Delivering a sophisticated modern twist to the world of indie garage rock, Aimée Steven’s 2020 has seen her featured on Radio X’s X-Posure playlist, BBC Introducing Mixtape, Charge Music, ThisFeeling, GigSlutz, LFC TV and BBC Wales, to name a few.

Now backed by Vox Amplification, the reigning Scouse guitar queen is emerging at full speed from the Covid era, having spent lockdown writing, gigging, and campaigning for global causes. Streaming from home and empty venues, she has embraced invitations to play for the women’s empowerment campaign Generation W and global charity NPH USA‘s appeal to support vulnerable children in South America during the pandemic, while also scoring a main stage Liverpool Digital Music Festival slot at the M&S Bank Arena and regularly turning out for the UK Music Venue Trust’s Save Our Venues campaign.
