July is a Brilliant Blur at Jacaranda Records with Miles Kane, The Pigeon Detectives and more
Despite the grey, rainy British Summer, Jacaranda Records found a way to make July beam with six live shows, a very special album listening party, and joining forces with Dinked Editions.
This months events were evenly split between Phase One and The Jacaranda, with the former hosting Carter and the Unstoppable Sex Machine’s Jim Bob hosting an album launch show, celebrating his venture as a solo artist in the seated, easy-listening atmosphere of the bar. For The Pigeon Detectives, and later Miles Kane, we transformed into our gig setup, having customers stomp their feet, dance away, and even join the bands on stage at one point!
The Jacaranda had the pleasure of British Rock band The Dust Coda hitting the basement stage hot off the heels of supporting Guns N Roses at Hyde Park, as well as pop-punk icons As December Falls celebrating their latest album.
We were also approach by Warner Music Group to hosting an album listening party for none other than Blur, three days before the bands first album in seven years was due to be released. We thought there would be no better place to hold the event than The Jacaranda, the musical melting pot of Liverpool, allowing for both old fans and new to experience the album with our fantastic sound system. We even made a cocktail especially for the event!
The crème de la crème of July was joining Dinked Editions, a collective of like-minded independent record stores allowing for exclusive vinyl releases, available only to their customers. We are the only store in Liverpool that has these Dinked releases. As of writing this article, Dinked 257 has just been revealed: ‘Pointe’ by Hooveriii in very Jacaranda colours!
